Fuck art? No son, fist fuck art.

When you are managing something as visceral as the Video Circus subversive test project, you really have to de diligent steering. I’ve found that the sway of the group think easily veers into the farthest reaches of grotesque fantasies almost instantly. While we aren’t afraid like so many sites to examine these urges, I find myself constantly struggling with the steering wheel to stop this site from careening off the road and sinking into a swamp.

The posts on Ghenki-Ghenki are a case in point. Originally Kevin Dalton put one up purely to be obnoxious, boasting his goal to see an entire category dedicated to the Japanese Squid Fetish and it’s purveyor, Daikichi Amano. Two more posts came after which focused on debating the artistic merits. These three posts are our highest ranked on the site. That being said, I still put the kibosh on more Genki-Genki.

Like our decision to cancel the Hard Times Talent Contest, we felt compelled to pull the plug because there is a line crossed between embracing the sick & twisted, and wallowing in it. Recently it was suggested we revisit the debate about whether the mind bendingly wonderful horrible grotesque soul shattering images of Genki-Genki are art. But I think that’s simply a ridiculous question and to debate his artistic merits is pointless. I present some of his “Mainstream” photo work as proof. No one said genius can’t reside on the dark side, in fact I think most of the time it does.

I like to compare Daikichi’s work to Foie Gras. It comes from a horrible place, it’s made of something gross, it’s completely unhealthy, it is absolutely delicious, and a little goes a long, long way.

I’m continuing my ongoing internal and external debate about the absolutely disturbing Japanese bug and sea creature fetish porn known as Genki-Genki. Daikichi Amano, the proud purveyor of some of the most disturbing and perversely beautiful images ever put to print and video has always maintained that he is NOT an artist. That Genki-Genki is straight up porn. I take some issue with this. I personally categorize porn as something arousing, that you can use for masturbatory material. I don’t believe this is really porn. I can’t wrap my mind around the idea of someone physically getting off on this stuff. Honestly, I keep returning to this because I can’t wrap my mind around the images themselves. His ability to mix beauty with grotesque and profane with sensual is clearly art. I think. These images were from a gallery event Amano did in Germany. Clearly someone convinced him that he needs to rethink how he categorizes himself.

In honor of our twisted ex-comrade Marcus Aubrey, I am going to continue posting more nauseatingly beautiful images from Daikichi Amano’s utterly grotesque Genki-Genki fetish smut. Genki in Japanese means “healthy” which is not the word that comes to mind when looking at this stuff. It’s utterly fascinating and utterly disgusting. Marcus had left a folder on his computer with a bunch of these images, I spent the morning going through them. By most societal standards, the stuff floating in my kink lexicon would get my dirty little ass shunned by most in our society. But when I look at these photos, I have a hard time even processing what I’m seeing. My mind doesn’t fully compute. I can only imagine what my mother would think.

Since I have the keys to this blog, and since Wheat Toast gets TWO of his own categories, I have taken it upon myself to start my own very special category that I am calling “What have you done Genki-Genki?” I am dedicating this category to Genki Genki and it’s twisted purveyor Daikichi Amano. I know our pet cause is supposed to Anti-bestiality awareness, but hey rules are different in Japan. But then in most peoples minds, Bestiality usually involves pets and farm animals, not squid, eel and fish. You want a daily inspiration, here you go.
