Today we tip our 40 to you, you rotten son of a bitch.

It was one year ago today that John’s girlfriend called me with the news. It was like a giant hammer hit me in the chest. Like super powered panicked words flung me across the room against my couch.  My very last communications with John were text messages about screen printers. It seemed so mundane.

When we started S&S, conceptually we really didn’t know what we were doing. I had just produced and pitched a reality show about forming and managing a sideshow troupe and it had been shelved. Sitting over beers with John, we realized that actually starting some sort of real (or unreal) troupe might be fun. Hence the Video Circus was born. For me, it was a desperate blind entrepreneurial puzzle, but for John, it was really about drunkenly running around in his underwear with lots of naked girls.

But he was poised to be the perfect partner. He could write, he was an amazing photographer, he was willing to do just about anything on camera and wanted to host the vodcast…

I take solace and joy  in knowing how irritated he would be with much of his memoriam attention. He was included in the Philadelphia City Papers Important Obituaries of 2010 as a founder of S&S, then there is the mural off of South St. that I often stand in front of and scream and rant to. Not to mention that we are going to continue to commemorate him in posts like this because regardless of the fact that he wanted to go, we will simply not let him die.

To this day I get people cornering me with sickly sweet posthumous edits of this anti-social malcontent.  I refuse to sully the truth, because the real Squid was more fun. I always tell people that when the spirits are finally sent for me to change my evil ways, John will be the one released from hell to torment me with his rattling chains. He is my Jacob Marley.

We have dozens and dozens of half finished posts sitting in our drafts section. This morning I was sifting through them and came across these decks from Dissizit. They were a sneak preview for 2011. Ooops.

For what ever reason, the late great Acid Squid had put it in the ear of management that we should avoid skate decks.  We’ve been getting away with busting a lot of management balls lately, but I know at some point we will push it too far. Directly criticizing the semi sainted deceased is extremely risky, so I will walk gingerly through my disagreement with him and simply repeat my past objection. If our mission is to simply find and feature the sickest, most epic shit out there, why  would we avoid some of the best art mediums?

I guess they kinda forgot this rule because Mr. Jam had snuck in a deck a few weeks ago, I’m sure we can all guess why got it posted.  Well I’m going to go ahead and post these come and gone Dizzizit! decks along with some newer ones that are out. I’m going to hit “pending publish” and see if they slip into the public’s eye for some intense window fapping.

Shit can get weird

Suspension of disbelief can be applied to all aspects of life.

To be “mentally” reconditioned means that Swellco & Swellco’s Video Circus process “quickens” (or makes alive) our numb mind. When a consumer believes in the process of the Video Circus, trusting us alone to encourage all perversions- then Swellco & Swellco come’s into one’s mind in the form of a new and better reality

What’s wrong with this picture?

We did an entry on Mastasia way back in July and it was one of our top posts. Mastasia is a live version of anime exaggerated breasts. I mean like fake breast prosthetics larger than the girls themselves. So we decided to maybe do a follow up, but were side tracked when we stumbled across live action Futanaria, chicks with GIANT dicks. I think this site raises some interesting questions about the mindset of the people who are going on the site.

Let me illustrate with a story the late Acid Squid told me once. He was the Director of TLA’s Video Sales Department. Which is of course mostly porn. He loved to fuck with the customers when he would get them on the phone.
“Could you send me a catalog of chicks with dicks?”
“I’m sorry sir, we don’t have any DVDs of chicks with dicks. We do however have a wide range of men with breasts films. Would you like a catalog of that sent to you?”
They would always say no.

Now obviously transgender aren’t men with breasts, they are women born with the wrong junk. But I’m not talking about them, I’m talking about the mindset of the men who jerk off to them. Here is my point, Futanaria features WOMEN pretending to have dicks. Not women with strap ons, no shemales. With Mastasia, the genital fetish is undeniably exaggerated, the breasts are as big as small cars sometimes. But while Futanaria often features cartoony wangs like the one above, a lot of the girls are pretending to have porn star sized cocks. There are plenty of girl traps out there that pack lots of meat, but Futanaria doesn’t show the REAL THING.

Now back to Acid Squid’s story. “Chicks with dicks?” Yes. “Men with breasts?” No. After all, it’s not gay if it’s a girl pretending to have a dick. Come on “straight” guys, there are a lot of struggling, hung ladyboys who could use the work. Just come out and admit what you really want, embrace (literally) what you like and stop being such… pussies.

On May 25th 1940, the world was blessed with the mind and vision of an amazing photographer.  His name is Nobuyoshi Araki, or better known as simply Araki.  Snapping shots since his college years, Araki has published well over 300 books documenting his amazing photography.

Best known for his photos of women in very vulnerable situations, i.e. tied to the ceiling using the Japanese tradition of Shibari, he has also taken some of the most amazing photos of people for who, what, and where they are.   There was an excellent documentary put out in 2004 by film maker Travis Close called Arakimentari.  If you get the change, check it out.  I have posted the trailer for it below:

It’s been a good year.

One year ago on the 9th, the Swellco & Swellco Video Circus officially announced itself to the world with our first Community Outreach Seminar. The Philadelphia Weekly published our press release as an attempted hoax. That was the moment we knew we were on to something. Yes, we realize this is a week late, but we’re busy. Cut us some slack.

The already legendary night was organized as a chance for the public to join the staff in fun, learning and laughter as we got the word out that bestiality is not a victimless crime.  What was meant as a mellow night for the whole family devolved into drunken mayhem as bar fights broke out and people tore off their clothes.  We had launched the subversive subliminal test project with a very, very big bang.

Over the past year we’ve had some pretty big highs and lows.

The Good:
Our staff has quadrupled in size, with street teams, production crews, photographers, writers and beautiful models all riding our giant corporate cock. We have finished completion of our palatial armed compound and testing facility in the posh Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia and are preparing to film our second full length Video Circus episode in front of a live studio audience. In 12 months we have collected 20 significant press clippings and held 6 sold out community outreach events. Swellco2000.com has a growth rate that can only be described as remarkable.

The Bad:
The tragic death of Acid Squid in September was a demoralizing blow for us all. We have also dealt with waves of haters. Religious groups have repeatedly threatened to protest our events and we’ve been the focus of letter writing campaigns. Shockingly, on more than one occasion, local performers have viewed our blitzkrieg appearance on the scene as threatening competition instead of as a helpful resource. Our fist monthly event was cancelled after the second date because the shear level of depravity and madness brought by our fans could not be allowed to go unchecked without legal repercussions. Staff member Rog Shatterz got knocked up and had to leave and spokesman Mr. Deadguy disappeared.

But with all the turmoil and controversy surrounding us, we have continued to grow, and grow, and grow. Swellco & Swellco’s testing in the Philadelphia region has been such a success that we are already laying out enormous groundwork in order to create a national presence.

If this is year one, just wait for year two.

While Gary Heidnik is not a product of Philadelphia, he is one of the most notable characters to have called the City of Brotherly Love at one point.  Heidnik was born in a suburb of Eastlake, Ohio but made a move to Philadelphia in the fall of 1962.  He transplanted here via a transfer from am Army Surgical Hospital in Germany-where he worked as a medic-where he later landed himself in a local hospital and was diagnosed as having Schizoid Personality Disorder.

Here’s the kicker, as well as a prime example of how botched our whole system is; after being discharged from the Army due to his mental diagnosis, he was capable of landing a job as a Psychiatric Nurse as he able to obtain the credibility of being an LPN (Licensed Practicing Nurse).  Remember, this all came about after he got “the sickness”. He worked at Veterans Administration Hospital in Coatesville, PA.  He was however, fired shortly after for his less than shining attitude.

Later, while living in the Philadelphia area he (like all good psychos) incorporated the United Church of the Ministers of God.  He created a bank account for said Church with Merrill Lynch in the amount of $1,500.  Over the next several years Brother Bishop made several wise investments (one of them with Playboy) building up his earnings to roughly 5ook, which in today’s money would be just shy of a million.

Find out more about one of Philly’s finest…With Gary doing well for himself he decided to get himself a mail-order bride from the Philippines.  Well, this didn’t last too terribly long due to the bizarre shit that he brought upon his new exotic bride.  He forced her to watch him have sexual relations with multiple women, as well as being fairly abusive.  She finally left Gary in 1986 which is when Gary had begun to make a name for himself, yet no one knew this just yet.

Over the next year, he began to kidnap and hold six different women captive in the basement of his Philadelphia home.  He had turned it into your typical  serial killer/serial rapist hide-away.  He tortured and raped this women over a period of about a year between 1986-1987, two of which died of starvation and excess torture.  Apparently while dismembering one of the women who died, Gary had some trouble and simply kept parts of her in the freezer and labeled her “Dog Food”.

On March 24,1987-a day after abducting one of the unlucky ladies-good old Gary was arrested.  The young lady somehow convinced him to allow her to see her family one last time in which she never returned to their rendezvous spot at a local gas station.  She had contacted 911, and the gig was up.

Gary stood trial, and the defense was unable to prove he was “insane” because the prosecution argued that no insane man could accrue so much money through a legitimate source.  Subsequently, our fine friend was sentenced to death.  While serving his time, Mr. Heidnik called the attention of a correctional officer informing the officer that “Satan had fed him too many cookies, and he couldn’t speak”.  Gary lay silent for the next two years without uttering a single word.

Gary Heidnik is to date the last recorded person to be executed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  He died by lethal injection on July 6th, 1999.

Philadelphia, take a bow as being able to own Mr. Gary Heidnik as one of ours.

Another odd side note, when the police entered the home of Heidnik they took notice to the fact he had glued pennies all over the walls of his home.  Go figure, but like they said…he wasn’t insane.

“You don’t miss a chance that good”

With his inclusion in the Philadelphia Citypaper’s Important Obituaries of 2010 as a founding member of Swellco & Swellco today, we’ve decided to feature some of the Squid’s photography. He had only seriously been taking pictures for a few months before he died, but a you can see, he was a natural born talent. I was with him when he took the shot of the two South Philly ladies. We were walking from his house to mine with Louise LaTease so I could film a screen test. (Squid & Louise were originally slated to be the hosts for the Video Circus.)

The women were sitting on their stoop smoking and waiting to wash the dye out of their hair. It’s a shot my inherent misanthropy would have denied me. But he marched right up to them and asked.

Of course they said no, one suggesting he come back when they were done and “lookin’ nice.”
“Why yah wanna take a picture of us lookin’ silly?” asked the other.
“Ladies, seriously, look at me” he warmly laughed while waiving his hand around his face “don’t you think I look silly myself? We love silly. Silly is what we do.”
They continued to refuse him.
He got on his knees and pleaded with his hands in prayer.
Finally they agreed, if he promised to come back in an hour and get a photo of them dressed up and sporting their new dye job.
He lied his promises and got the shot.
“You don’t miss a chance that good”  he said as we walked away.
He was right, and it was that good.

Long before the shitty marketing of today, movies went the extra creative mile to get their point across.  There were no epic TV commercials, in fact for what it cost to produce a commercial for a film today. most movies were being made on the same budget back in the “olden” days.

This is a great example of early marketing that you don’t see much of today.  This is a barf bag that was being used to promote the early  Spanish horror flick “Tomb of the Blind Dead“, better known as “La Noche del terror ciego” (Night of the Blind Dead).  The film was written and directed by  Amando de Ossario in 1971.
