Chicago Friday: Daikaiju, The Blind Staggers, I Attack
Oh, you look nervous. Is it the scars?
4358 N Cicero Ave
Meaning “giant monster” in Japanese, the Daikaiju wear kabuki masks and sing surf rock anthems about monsters. The anonymous members go by the names: secret man, rumble man, hands man, rock man, radiant man, and electro man. As if they needed support… punk, metal, funk, jazz, thrash fusion act Stuck Underwater and instrumental psycho surfabilly band The Alder Kings back them up.
The Blind Staggers, Molly Gene, Al Scorch
1600 W. Grand Ave.
Country Punkers The Blind Staggers play with down-home garage-blues act Molly Gene One Whoaman Band… yes a one woman band. The Country Soul Ensemble led by the usually drink Al Scorch opening up.
I Attack, Modern Day Rippers, Hotlips Messiah, etc.
2169 N Milwaukee Ave
Old School 80s-style hardcore act I Attack rock out with locals Modern Day Rippers, the drunk, cursing, costumed, punk-rock misfits of Hot Lips Messiah and 40oz. lending support.
