Old School Gang Banger Business Cards
“We don’t die, we just get high”
I cringe at the thought that the times we live now could ever be seen as “simpler times.” But invariably when you look back, the past always looks less threatening, even quaint. I think this is even more the case when something first starts out, no matter how dangerous or ominous it is.
As case in point, I present to you this collection of vintage street gang business & calling cards from the 70′s and early 80′s. They really give you a glimpse into the pre-crack/drive by shooting world of early street gang “social club”. It was a simpler time when beefs were settled with fists and the biggest escalation might be to a straight razor or beer bottle. It’s clear that the game wasn’t quite so fierce back in the day, I mean, they actually listed the names of the gang members right on the cards for shit sake.
I would love to see this style take hold in the business world. “We don’t die, we just get high.” Yes indeed.
