Master Baiting Nigerian Scammers
Master Baiting at it’s finest
Some people spend their spare time playing video games, others do art, music, internet porn. For the past couple of months I’ve been periodically engaging in the thrilling sport of Scam Baiting.
For the unfamiliar, scam baiting occurs when rather than deleting that ridiculous email from the Nigerian guy promising riches, or wanting to buy your craigslist item from overseas, you instead string them along for shits and giggles and hopefully humiliating trophies.
The objectives of baiting are to scam the scammer. Keep the bait going as long as possible, costing the scammer as much time and energy as possible. You also want get them to jump through hoops for you, send you a photograph or video of them doing something absurd in order to complete the deal. If you want to play internet cop and gather as much information as possible as to personally identify and publicly expose the con artist, go for it, but I’m strictly in it for the lulz.
You can get started as easily as posting an ad on craiglist selling an ipod for twice the amount it it’s worth, being certain the only respondents will be scammers. For detailed examples, tricks of the trade check, and more laughs check out 419eater.com, thescambaiter.com and macsbaitstore.com
