Yoga’s Megafauna (Since We’re All Checking Out)
In preparation for “The Great Fire” that will black out the Sun for you and your brethren, we’ve been debating soundtracks for the end, and yup…Yoga’s debut full length Megafauna is quite fitting. Yoga produces some of the grimiest yet gracefully Hell bent sounds. It’s as if someone dug up a black metal cassette left under the remains of a Norwegan Church Burning and used it as back ground tracks for a cacophony of Skullflower-esque searing noise. Listening to Yoga is like being trapped in an echo chamber of lo-fi creeping paralysis mixed with Goblin’s Suprisia soundtrack in one ear and Throbbing Gristle in the other. Every time I throw on Megafauna I end up under a table trying to strike out the lights to stop the blanket of hallucinations…to put it mildly these guys aren’t fucking around and neither am I. Yoga has created one of the most strikingly haunting and original sounds I can ever remember. Pass the pills, and play dead, no one here is sleeping tonight.
