ThreeFrames.net
I’ve been obsessed with animated gifs for a while. I know they are all the rage right now, but it’s for good reason, they are just so fucking cool.
In my opinion, Threeframes.net is probably the coolest source of animated gifs out there. This has site taken a cool time killer and turned it into a real art form. The premise is simple. you only get (yeah, you guessed it) three frames to work with. The result isn’t an animated loop, but a subtly vibrating picture. By choosing obscure films that already have great art direction the gifs really turn into some bad ass art work.
Scope out some of my personal favorites bellow, then go get lost on the site for the next five hours.
