So I’ve been a fan of Yuliya Lanina for some time. She’s a kitschy Russian from NYC that does amazing paintings, mechanical doll sculptures and “moving paintings” which are basically stop motion short films of her dolls. It hit me the other day that her short film Mishka would make a perfect post for The Video Circus site, it’s got puppets, bestiality, and furry suits. All things that have been addressed on this site and all things that hit home with me personally. Mishka holds a very meaningful place in my heart. When I watch it, I feel like Yuliya somehow got a video tape of my life, or has a copy of my diary. The only thing it’s missing is some spermicide and a box of ginger cookies to make it all complete.
